2026-27 Eagle Update

Indian Hills Elementary

Welcome back, Eagles! 🦅

We are so excited to welcome our students and families back to Indian Hills on Tuesday, August 18th, for the 2026–2027 school year!

Our teachers and staff have been working hard to prepare classrooms and get everything ready for another wonderful year of learning together.

There is something pretty special about the first day of school; the fresh supplies, new routines, familiar faces, new friendships, and all the possibilities that come with a brand-new year.

We can't wait to fill our halls with Eagles again!

Thank you for sharing your children with us and for being such an important part of the Indian Hills community.

Below are some reminders and tips to make the first days of school as smooth as possible.

Walking or Rolling to School

  1. Always use the crosswalk
  2. Pay attention to the people and cars around you
  3. If using a bike, scooter, skateboard or other vehicle with wheels - please dismount while on school property
  4. Follow instructions from Safety Patrol and Crossing Guards
  • Do not park in the designated spots for individuals with disabilities if you do not have a handicapped parking designation.

We also have a new disability-only crosswalk.

Please help us teach students that the new crosswalk is not for student use.

We know it is confusing, and we tried to adjust it; in the end, we have 2 crosswalks at the front of the building, and ALL STUDENTS should use only the crosswalks connected to a sidewalk on both sides.
 

Pick-Up & Drop-Off

Our school is landlocked. There is only one way in and out for vehicles. We all have to work together to keep our students safe.

There are 3 cutouts/catwalks that students can take to get to neighboring streets:
  • Nottingham
  • Roxburry
  • Beacon Drive

Taking the Bus

Our school has 3 school buses:
501, 518, and 533
  • Families can access route maps on our website.
  • If you are unsure if your student qualifies to ride the bus, you can review the boundary map at the district website.
  • Also at the district website, there is a Transportation Exception Request form, to request consideration for your child to take the bus, if you don't already qualify for transportation services.

  • Zum App: This app lets you see your bus route information and track your child's bus in real-time!
  • Visit the district's Apps for Parents webpage to learn more about Zum.

REMINDER:
  • On Friday, August 21 and on Friday, August 28, our school day will end at 1:30 p.m.
  • Please note that our school buses will not be able to pick students up at our 1:30 p.m. dismissal time.
  • If your child normally rides the bus, please arrange for an alternative way home at 1:30 p.m., if at all possible.

We understand that this may not be possible for every family. For students who must ride the school bus, we will open the gym and provide staff supervision from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Students will then board their regular buses upon arrival at approximately 2:30 p.m.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your flexibility as we make sure every student is safely supervised.
 

Before School Line Up

At 7:55 a.m., teachers will welcome their students into the building by picking them up at the designated line-up location.

Parent Teacher Organization: PTO

The Indian Hills Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of every student while fostering a strong sense of community among families, teachers, and staff.

The PTO welcomes participation from all families and offers many ways to get involved—whether through volunteering at events, supporting classroom projects, or helping behind the scenes. We provide opportunities that fit a variety of schedules and time commitments so everyone can contribute in meaningful ways.

Welcome Mr. Searle

Mr. Searle is the new security guardian at Indian Hills. His primary responsibility is to maintain a safe, welcoming, and secure school environment. By having him at Indian Hills, we are able to comply with Utah House Bill 44 - which took effect in May 2026.

Mr. Searle will help us:
  • Monitor school entrances and school grounds.
  • Support safety during arrival, dismissal, lunch, assemblies, and other school events.
  • Implement consistent visitor check-in procedures.
  • Communicating with school administration

Perhaps most importantly, Mr. Searle will serve as an additional caring adult who helps promote a safe and positive school environment at Indian Hills.
