Eagle Update

Indian Hills Elementary

Dear Indian Hills Families,

We are officially in the final three-week stretch before Spring Break! This part of the school year always feels a little like a marathon. The days are full, the learning is important, and everyone is working hard to keep the momentum going. One of the best ways families can help right now is by making sure students arrive at school on time and ready to learn each morning. Being present from the start of the day helps students settle in, connect with their classmates, and get the most out of their learning.

We also have some exciting news to celebrate! Last week, the Salt Lake City School District Foundation surprised Ms. Mergens with a “Thank You Thursday” award. Anyone who has spent time in her classroom knows exactly why. Her lessons are engaging, her expectations are high, and she is always thinking carefully about how to support every student. We are lucky to have such a thoughtful and dedicated educator at Indian Hills.

A few quick reminders for the week ahead:

  • No Coding & Robotics Club Monday or Tuesday: Several of our teachers will be attending the UCET technology conference, so there will be no Coding & Robotics Club on Monday or Tuesday this week. The club will resume the following week.
  • Meeting – Thursday Morning: @ 9:00 a.m. in the Library. Our PTO does so much to support our school community. If you are able to join the meeting, we would love to see you there!

Thank you for continuing to support our students and our school. With three weeks to go before Spring Break, we are cheering on our Eagles as they keep showing up, working hard, and learning something new every day.

Warmly,

Dr. P. 🦅

From Friday the 13th to “Selection Sunday”, this is one of the more exciting times of the school year as we collaborate with Mr. Montiero with our upper-grade students to research post-secondary education options through the vehicle of March Madness!

The birds are singing, the temperatures are rising (too quickly for me), and brackets will be made (and busted) this week in SEL.

  • 3rd Grade – Group Ku: Identify and describe different ways we can contribute to our community, both as individuals and as a group.
  • 4th Grade - “Lie to Me”: Identify appropriate strategies and communication skills we can use when working in large and small groups.
  • 5th & 6th Grade – “March Madness” - College & Career Awareness project to explore post-secondary education options across the nation.
