Eagle Update

Indian Hills Elementary

A warning sign with text 'ICE & SNOW TAKE IT SLOW' and snow accents.
Dear Families,
Tomorrow’s forecast calls for significant snowfall ❄️
A few reminders to help the day run smoothly.

For all students: Please send your child prepared to play outside in the snow at recess. This includes:
  • A warm winter coat
  • Gloves or mittens
  • A hat, hood, or earmuffs
  • Shoes or boots that will keep feet dry

We plan to go outside whenever it is safe to do so, and students truly enjoy playing in the snow when they are dressed appropriately.

For driving grown-ups: Thank you for modeling patience, courtesy, and safe driving for our children.

Our campus is landlocked with one road in and out. The road is steep and can be challenging to navigate, even in the best conditions.
  • Please give yourself extra time, drive slowly, and pay attention to those around you.
  • If your vehicle does not have All-Wheel Drive, please consider dropping off or picking up your student(s) on Wasatch Blvd. or at one of the nearby access paths (Roxbury, Nottingham, or Beacon).

Please do not park in no-parking zones:
  • Buses require adequate space to safely enter, turn, and exit campus.
  • Most of our students are shorter than a car. We need clear lines of sight at all times to ensure their safety.

Please follow the established traffic pattern:
  • Wait your turn in line. Skipping the line or creating alternate drop-off points compromises safety and slows the process for everyone.
  • U-turns are unsafe whenever children are present in our parking lot and even more so when roads are slick with ice and snow.
  • Do not drive into the Staff Parking Lot unless you are employed by the school.

Pay special attention to our 6th graders who bravely volunteer for Safety Patrol.

Our procedures are in place for one reason: student safety.

Warmly,
Dr. P.

It's a good day to be an Eagle

Last week was EPIC: SEPs, Book Fair, and Valentine's Day on Friday the 13th! I was once again blown away by the creativity and uniqueness of the boxes brought into the school. From heart-shaped boxes to a life-sized Stanley Cup, my hat is off to all the students, parents, and teachers who made this week so fun.
Here is a look at what we’ll be working on this week:
  • 3rd Grade – "The Me List": Identify and share our personal learning needs. Discuss how family members, friends, teachers, or other trusted adults can support us in positive ways.
  • 4th & 5th Grade – "The Move This": Practice our verbal and non-verbal communication skills to build personal connections
  • 6th Grade - “Match Maker”: Identify the common experiences we possess between each other. Identify the diversity of experiences we possess between each other. Consider ways we can take care of ourselves and others.
