Go for the Gold: D.E.A.R. Week

It's time for our annual DEAR week, when we take a break from screens and focus on getting lost in a good book! Packets will be handed out to students on Monday morning with all of the details. Please help support and encourage students to do extra reading this week. We don't want students sacrificing sleep or other healthy hobbies... but we DO want students to focus on incorporating reading time into a well-balanced life!

I can’t believe our 2nd-semester SEPs are happening this week. As always, I look forward to seeing all of our IHE community visiting the school. Ms. Teresa and I will be set up in the atrium with some fun crafts/activities for the students. Come by and say hello! Here is a look at what we’ll be working on in SEL with the lower grades this week:

  • Kindergarten – “Freeze Please”: Recognize and label basic emotions.
  • 1st Grade – Emoger #5 – “Smile, Give a Hug, or a Fist Bump”: Identify how we can use the emotional management strategy: Smile, Give a Hug, or a Fist Bump.
  • 2nd Grade – “The Appreciation Circle”: Define appreciation. Review the word "appreciate." In a circle, share one thing we appreciate and a movement showing how it makes us feel, then mirror each other's movements.

District Science Fair

Thank you for the time, creativity, and enthusiasm that your student brought to this year’s Elementary District Science & Engineering Fair and Invention Convention!

Every student who completed a project had the opportunity to share their work with the judges, who were truly impressed.

The projects were very strong, making the competition close. Below is a list of the Indian Hills award-winning projects from grades 4–6 (ordered alphabetically by project title):
A table displays student names and their project titles, organized in two columns.
