Eagle Update

Indian Hills Elementary

Poster for Indian Hills Elementary's Annual Winter Sing on Friday, December 19th at 8:30 AM in the Gymnasium.
💛 Dear Eagles,

One more week, and then we are off for Winter Break! December can be a busy, hectic, and thrilling time of year for families. We will do our best to finish strong this week, and we thank you in advance for supporting us by having your students here, on time, each day.

Information about our upcoming music performances is included below. On Friday, we will continue our holiday tradition of coming together to sing as a school community. This year’s performance will be livestreamed via YouTube and will also be available to watch at your convenience. Please send your child to school wearing a red shirt on Friday.

If you plan to attend the music performances on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, please note that our parking lot is quite small. We ask that families plan ahead and park on nearby streets or at the church on Wasatch Boulevard. If you do park in our lot, please use only designated parking spaces. For safety reasons, please refrain from parking in the bus lane or fire lane at the front of the building, and please do not park along the curved portion of St. Mary’s.

Thank you for your continued support as we head into this special week together!

Warmly,

Dr. Pettersson

It's a good day to be an Eagle

Measles Information

Our community, along with several areas across the state, is seeing a rise in reported measles cases. Measles is a highly contagious disease, and vaccination remains the most effective way to protect yourself, your family, and those around you.

We encourage all families to ensure their children are up to date on their MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccinations. Students and employees who have not received the proper MMR vaccinations and are exposed to measles may not return to school until 21 days have passed since the last day of exposure.

Early symptoms of measles often include a high fever, cough, runny nose, red or watery eyes, and small white spots inside the mouth. A rash typically follows a few days later. If you or your child begins to show these symptoms, please contact your healthcare provider.

A list of vaccination clinics can be found on the county website. Families can find more information about measles, including how our schools will respond to potential cases, on our district website.

Winter Safety

It takes all of us to keep students safe, especially in cold weather with icy road conditions. Last week, many adults failed to follow our parking lot rules. Please note the following:
  • No U-turns are permitted on school property. All traffic must turn right before reaching the bike lockers.
  • The faculty parking access road (St Marys Drive) on the north side of the building is for staff only—please do not use this road if you are not a faculty member.
Additional reminders:
  • Our campus is landlocked, with one road in and out of the parking lot.
  • This road is relatively steep and can be difficult to navigate in snowy or icy conditions.
  • If your vehicle does not have all-wheel drive, please consider dropping off and picking up your student(s) on Wasatch Blvd. or at one of the nearby access paths (Roxbury, Nottingham, or Beacon).
