About Me

I have 12 years combined experience teaching preschool, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th,and 6th grades. I am licensed in elementary education in New York, Connecticut, California, and Utah. I hold a Masters in Childhood Education and a special education teaching credential in New York. I recently moved back to Utah to join my husband who is a scientist in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Utah. Originally from New York, I have most recently lived in Connecticut and the San Francisco Bay Area. I come from a large family that places a high value on children and education. My mother and father are both exceptional teachers, and they have instilled in me a love of learning.

While we are not always successful in every moment of every day, it is crucial that children have as many moments of success as possible. Feelings of success will help them to develop emotionally, academically, and socially. It is important to help all children value themselves and discover opportunities for success. They develop critical thinking skills best when they are allowed to be active participants in their learning. Children learn best by doing. This translates into a classroom where students are engaged in hands-on, authentic activities to which they can relate.
